The appointment of asst Supt of Police at Hongkong is vacant by Fraser's resignation. I think a very good man should be selected for the place. The Hongkong Police staff requires strengthening. The salary is $250 (250) per annum, posting here (and house free). But for Mr Kennedy has not as yet officially requested us to fill up the place. I am not aware what are Mr Ewen's qualifications, but on this point the Police Deptt can no doubt give information.
