the Nippon Yusen Kaisha could be admitted into the Conference, the shipping companies therein, says the Osaka journal, hope for the best being doubtful as to whether the O S.K.can fight long. Exactly what the Jiji means by this is not very clear, as the N.Y.K. has been on the Calcutta run for years, and it was only the public, not the company, which, made sacrifices when competition was replaced by conference. Evidently, however, the Calcutta. to New Orleans run is not ver remunerative.
