It is hardly necessary to point the moral, for it is evident that some solution must be found and action must be taken along two lines ruthless economy in ex- penditure and largely increased production and trade.
Mr. Crammood is emphatic upon the necessity for bringing down the cast of national service! to something below 25 per cent. of the national income, even if the coq*rquent retrenchment involtes curtailing the social ser vices now undertaken be the l Government. The suggestion is also made that the redemption of War Debt should be postponed ! and an understanding reached with the United States of Americs and Japan as to the limitation of naval armaments.
