GERMAN WOOLLEN YARN, In the middle of this month about 30,000lbs, of German wool- len yarn are expected to arrive in Japan and this has cause some
agreement regarding prices is still maintained, it will aggravate the market in Japan. It is ex-- |pected that a conference will be called in the near future to con- sider the propriety of abólisting the agreement. Of the 30,000 be.. 20,000 lbs. have already been can- tracted for between the import- ing firms and merchants.
IRON AND STEEL.
The opinion obtains says the Aschỉ, that the revision of the | Japanese Customs Law and the lowering of the rate of interest by some banks have brought = livalier tone to the iron market But the trade in America con- tinuss depressed. Steel companies there have decisively decreased wagas, while there is an expacta--- tion of the price further decilning in the future. To make the situation still more grave, arrivals of Belgian imports and Germany's schame to export overseas countries render impossible to hope for the best. The present revival is therefore, it is observed, merely temporary phenomenon. Re- specting sales by the Tawata Ironworks during last month in volume, but now orders are they have increased somewhat
almost paralysed, as usual. Mr. Stirani, the President of the Huckung Sui, 136 Queen's Government Ironworks, is at ane Road West 3rd Floor,

it
opinion that the price of steal will decline to the extent of ¥100 per ton. Accordingly. there will be some complicated circumstances to cope with, bat the chief point is the need of economising producing costs. The Government Ironworks in- t nd to effect a second decrease
to the same extent as American and Belgian goods. Last year, the Ironworks were in a very difficult position, in connection with the protection of iron mer- chants, but this year will proceed os a policy resolutely to decrease their prices in conformity with the actuations of American goods in disregard of the position of the merchants, and also, it might be added in disregard of their own losses.
