Ball at Government House. There was a largu`gathering night at Government House. The ball room decorated with bouquets flowers, suspended fram the ceiling and the approach to this' part of the house was festooned with green leaves in which half-hidden red lights. Above the entrance of the ball roam was a led Illuminated G.R. The supper room was decorated with lotus blossom, and the grounds presented a charming spectacle with the numerous red tairy lights suspended from wires around all.. the pathways and over the lawns. High up on the wall at the back of the house was a large electrie G. R which was erected by the Hongkong Electric Co., Ltd. Light refreshments were served to ladies in a marquee erected in the grounds, whilst another served as a gentlemen's bar.

Mr. H. P. Lowick, of the Public Works Department, was responsible for the ganerzt, of supervision of the whole the decorations, and the lighting arrangements were under taken by Mr. R. J. Stevenson, assisted, by Mr. A. E. Clarke. The floral decorations were under. the supervision of Mr H. Green. of the Botanical and Forestry Department.

The Reception.
