NON EXPLODABLE AIRSHIP.
A Dutch airman has invented a new type of airship which, it la claimed, eliminates the danger of not require explosion, does ballast and is also not liable to lose gas. The hydrogen in the envelope is separated from the atmosphere by a wall of nitrogen which, it is claimed, will exting- uish the flames if the outer envolo è catches fire. The air- ship is 950-ft. long and has a horse power of 6.400. Its speed is 72 miles per hour on half. power and it can carry 300 pass- engere.
WORLD'S COTTON CONFERENCE.
A conference of the cotton in- terests of the world is to be held at Liverpool and Manchester from June 13 to June 22, Lord Em- mott presiding. Its purpose is to bring together representatives of all branches of the cotton in- dustry of the world except those in enemy countries. The subjects discussed will include: increased production of cotton in the British Empire and elsewhere. Universul standards for American cotton, the financing of American cotton for European use, and research problems.

The net profit of Harrods, Ltd., for the year ended Jan. 31, 1921. is £536,042, which with £208.890 amounts to brought forward, £744,932, as compared to last year with a net profit of £583,635, and of amount brought forward £66,480. Subject to final audit, the, directors will recommend at the forthcoming annual meeting a dividend on the Ordinary shares of 124 per cent., which, together with the interima dividend already paid of 5 per cent, will make a total distribution for the year of 17% per cent.
