Linding the former agreement 186 incomplete it lete it was neces necessary to have the forme reprinted which Caused considerable delay; and, Although I have used the utmost dispatch in recruiting the men, I shall not as Thad hoped, be able to superintend their embartration; which, by detaining me in England until 6th proximo, would retard my return to Hong Kong till 31st February next.
While my present leave expires on 13th of that month.
I therefore respectfully suggest that the Crown Agents be instructed to appoint an officer to accompany the men to Liverpool & see them on board the Steamer.

C. S. Since the above was written I have seen Mr Sergeant who has decided on despatching the men by S. S. Ajax which leaves Liverpool on 8th of the proximo.
