St. Joseph's College Meeting.
The annual athletic meeting in connection with St. Joseph's, College and the other Catholic Schools and Convents of the Colony took place at Happy Valley yeslorday in the presenco of a large gathering of parents and visitors. A varied programme gave a large selection to com-. petitors, who, notwithstanding the somewhat sultry weather, contested each avent with great zest.
The ono mile bicycle race excited the greatest interest and was won by Inalieff, whose great advantage in height and bulk no doubt helped him considerably in carry ing off a gruelling event. The champion of the meeting turned out to be a little fellow named B Gosano, who, it will be remember- ed, participated with almost equal distinction in last year's event.
At the conclusion of the sports, Lady Brunyato very gracefully distributed the prizes, aided by a ataunch friend of the College in the person of Colonel Bowon. She was made the recipient of a bouquet, presented by little pupil from the Italian convent.
The Rev. Brother Marcol, Director of the College, in a brief, speech thanked Sir William and Lady Brunyate for the honour they accorded the College by| their presence. He believed that Was the first public appearance of the Vice-Chan-I ecilor and
bis consor! since their arrivel in this Colony. On behalf of the College ho also gave thanks to the prize-donors and to the Stewards of the Race Course for so kindly lending them them the ground.
