Schedule of Colonel Caine's Services

In his statement, Major Caine entered the Army in November, 1813, was employed in the Nepal war of 1814, 1815, and in action as major in the Light Company at Geetghurk on the 31st January.

He was in the war of the appointment at Bhurtpoor in 1817, 1818, and engaged at Chubbulpoor on or about December, 1817. When he planted the Regimental Colour of his Regiment, and destroyed in single combat the Arab Chief commanding the Mussulman Saints at Ghubbulpoor; present during the siege of Bhurtpoor, when he volunteered for the forlorn hope, and was wounded in the assault whilst carrying Enemy's guns :- Major Caine had the good fortune to destroy three of the Enemy; he was simply opposed; Commanded the Grenadier Company of the Europeans at the Capture of Churoo, 5th July, 1840. Major Caine has filled the various appointments of Regimental Judge Advocate, of Adjutant and of Major of Brigade at Bhurtpoor, as well as Major of Brigade at Meerut, and Deputy Judge Advocate General of that Division. Whilst in the 14th Regiment, he had the honor of being Aide-de-Camp for three years to the lamented Chief, the late Sir Samford Whittingham, and Aide-de-Camps for one year to the late Major General the Honourable John Ramsay, and appointed by the British Government in India on this occasion.
