Presentation of Prizes.

The Hongkong Horticultural Society's show at the Botanic Gardens yesterday drew many people thither, all of whom wore delighted with the excellent dia- play of flowers and vegetables.

In the presence of a large gather- ing. Lady Stubbs distributed the prizea st five o'clock. Mr L. N. Loefe presided and among those present were His Excelleney the Governor, the Bishop of Victoria, the acting! Chief Justice (Mr. H. H. Gompertz), Hen. Mr Cloud Severn. (Colonial Secretary), Sir Robert and Lady Ho Tung, Hon. Air In Fook, Hon. Mr B. A. Irving, Mri Ho Kom-teng, Rev. Mr Holman, Dr. Saunders, Capt. Warner, Mr T. E. Pearce, Mr R. A Nicholson, and Mr Davidson (Kowloon).

Mr Leefe, in introdueig Lady Stubbs, said he thought the Society Was to be congratulated upon the general excellence of the show. Possibly it had not quite come up to the expectations some people had entertained about it, and i was a little difficult to account for this, because the season as a whole had been a favourable one for horticulture. One of the chief Features of the show had been the excellence of time exhibits from tha! much abused-deservedly much abused-place, the leak, and he hoped the growing of flowers there
