Appeal to Manchester Men.

Sir-As Colonel of the Man- chester Regiment, I would ask the courtesy of your publishingi this letter in your columna, toj inform all ranks who have served in the regiment, regular Bat- talions, Specis! Reserve Bat- talions, Service Battalions, Ter- ritorial Battalions, that it is hoped the History of all battalions [Regular, Special Reserve, Service, Territorial, Garrison, Young soldiers, Cadot Baitalions, Depots) will be written, and the whole compiled into A

work worthy of the Regiment and the city it represents.

On account of the large number* of Battalions, it is obviously #j very great undertaking and it is essential that it should be ably and accurately carried out. The initial cost will be heavy. To meet this all who have served in the past or ate serving now Ata asked to assist. I shall be glad to receive any contribution from any Manchester man serving in the East, and forwund it home to the Committee and I will of course personally acknowledge any such received by me.

Yours etc.

V. B. Fane. Major-General,
