REUTER'S TELEGRAMS. .

IRISH PEACE.

Is the Door Closed?

London. December 19. Father O'Flanagan has telegraphed to Mr. Lloyd Gearze, declaring that the only road to Irish reconciliation is to allow the Constitution adopted by the Irish people at the last General Election to perform its legitimate functions, and to negotiate a Treaty directly with Mr. De Valera.

The Premier has replied saying a settlement is impossible so long as Sinn Fein demands an Irish Republic and persists in trying to compel a settlement by assassination and violence. He deeply regrets that Father O'Flannagan has closed the door to the rounds of goodwill which were Invoked at the beginning of the corresporas dence.
