SMALLEST RACING AIRPLANE
One of the machines entered in the recent airplane contest for the Gordon Bennet cup at Etampes, France, was a Dayton- Wright monoplane of such a small supporting surface that the total wing space is only 137 square feet. This unusual type of aircraft has a 6-cylinder Mercedes engine and the high speed it develops makes it difficult to land.
DIRIGIBLE OVER WASHINGTON.
The giant U.S. Army dirigible "Zodiac" recently purchased in France making its first flight over Washington. It low from Langley Field, Va. a distance of 139 miles in slightly more than 2 hours.
