SINN FEIN ATTACK ON ENGLAND.
Landon, Nov. 23,

Fifteen warehouses in Liverpool and Bootle, principally cotton. were dred last night. Petrol tins and paraffin were found. Five man were arrested. The youth killed at Liverpool lost his life in the following circumstances. He saw two men on a doorway of a cotton warehouse and went and fetched policemen, who proceeded to arrest tham. One hit a policeman violently with a heavy bolt cutter and the other fired at him, but missing the policeman, killed the youth. Both men escaped.
The civilian who was killed was a youth who saw the men setting Are to a warehouse, and whom a Sinn Feiner shot dead. The police man who was with the youth narrowly escaped, the assailant dring at him point blank. The warehouses were entered by forcing and catting locks and bolts. The fires broke out simultaneously at the corth and south ends of the line of docks, and at Bootle the whole Lancashire side of the Mersey was ablaze.
Discoveries established that the incendiarism at Liverpool was due to a Sinn Fein plot concerning the whole docks area, which extend seven miles Fires spread over the whole distance. Four men were arrested, including the man who hit the policeman with a bolt cutter. All fire brigades were quickly at the scenes of the condagration and were subsequently reinforced by brigades from Birkenhead, Warring- ton and St. Helens. The damage runs into hundreds of thousands of sterling.
Altogether eighteen warehouses in Liverpool and Bootle were set afire. There is no doubt the intendiarism was well thought out. The plot was organised on a big scale. It is significant that nearly all the locks of the warehouses were cut with bolt cutters. Empty paraffin and petrol tins were found. The police are convinced that motor cars were used to convey the party. In a case of a timber yard i there were three separate outbreaks. In some instances the fires: were quickly subdued and others, stocked with cotton, burned furious. all night long and baret out. Two policemen hurrying to the scene came into condist with the incendiaries who fired revolvers. A bulle! penetrated a policeman's overcoat.
It is regarded as the opening of the Slan Fein attack on England. in connection with which precautions mentioned earlier were taken.!
