PRINCESS WEDS CHAUFFEUR.
YEARNS TO BE "LOVED WIFE.”
Full particulars are now avail- able of the amazing Royal romance involved in the marriage of Princess Alexandra Victoria, daughter of Prince Frederick, Duke of Schleswig-Holstein, who was recently divorced by Prince August William of Hobenzollern, fourth son of the former Kaiser, to her chauffeur.
Prince August William is the first of three sons of the Ex- Kaiser who have gone into the Divore Courts since the war' And, to top the climax, bis wife. the forder Royal Princess Alexandra Victoris, has sloped with Fritz Meyer, whose only link with royalty was a limousine
speaking tube.
Frau Meyer, the Princess that was, is now on a honeymoon, and happy. “I'd rather be the loved'. wife of a chauffeur than the unloved wife of a royal prince,”- abe tells her friends. Her royal ex-husband's comment was the bland announcement,
*Royalty is rid of his quondam spouse."
But the people of Berlin are still gasping (the Central News says) from the shock of the affair.
Fritz Meyer, before the war, was a soappy figure in the ex- Kaiser's livery. Later he was a lieutenant in the German Officers" Reserve Corps, but it is under- stood that the romance with Princess Victoria bad its ip- ception while he was still the pilot of the royal motor cars.
At the time Prince August, William brought his suit for divorce from the charming, beauti ful, and reputedly extravagant Princess he alleged that she had fallen in love with an officer of "common tastes and democratic name." " Berlin wondered at the time, but since the recent elope- ment the bewilde ment has
