Cunard Great Aquitanis arrived at Liverpool after a most successful trial trip from Newcastle, on which, for the first time, abe burnt oil fual. Her departure from Tyneside was witnessed by thousands of peoplǝ, and as the big Cunarder made the her way down the river syrens of hundreds of ships sounded a farewell.

À FAMOUS COMMANDER. The work done at Newcastle by Messrs. Sir W. ti. Armstrong, Whitworth and Co. has occupied about seven months and cost no less than £400,000. The Com- mander is Capram Sir James Charles, who received the K. B. E. in recognition of his war services. Sir James has com manded many famous liners, whose names are almost house- hold words, such as the Carpathis. Carmania, Campania Lusitania, and the Mauretania.
