I am directed by Earl Granville to acquaint you, for the information of the Earl of Kimberley, that he has received a note from the Spanish Minister at this Court, stating that Don Jose Antonio de Lavalle has been appointed Spanish Consul at Hong Kong, and requesting that Her Majesty's Exequatur may be issued to that Gentleman to enable him to act in the above capacity; and I am to request that you will inform Lord Granville if there is any objection to the issue of such Exequatur to Mr. Lavalle, who belongs to the Spanish Consular Service, and does not reside at Hongkong.

I am, Sir,

Your most obedient,

humble Servant,
