robbery or piracy in the neighbourhood of the colony

gun boats were actively employed

be spared to lie constantly in
the harbour, although the gunboat
visited the Colony occasionally, and at no time be very far off.
I said I would not at present
press for which there have hitherto
been no convenient. We can
urge
the matter further, but
suppression.
