Mr. Churchill, in the course of a speech in Sunderland, said he had come to present two different pictures of the general situation. The bright picture was concerned with our home affairs, and the Įdark picture must deal with the melancholy situation in which such enormous portions of Europe and Asia were plunged at the present time: it was one of almost unrelieved anxiety.
A fortnight ago the Prime Minister said in the House of Commons that this great country was getting into her stride again. That statement was both timely and true. The enormous strength of Britain was once again being displayed. Our industries had
