What is expected to be the. largest and most important conven. tion of the Y.M.C.A. of China ever held is to meet in Tientsin from April 1st to th. The occasion will be a celebration of the 20th an- niversary of the founding of the Y.M.C.A. in China,
Tientsin, where this convention is to meet, is also the city in which the first Y.M.C.A. work began in China. The pioneer secretary, Mr. D. Willard Lyon, arrived in Trentsin in 1895. Early in 1898 two more secretaries were added, Mr Robert Gailey, now of Peking, and Mr Ro- bert Lewis, formerly of Shangbai | and now general secretary of the Y.M.C.A. in Cleveland, U.S.A. Mr F. S. Brockman, 21 recent visitor in Hongkong, also came to China the latter part of that year.
