General view of the Camp.

The illustration shows a caged

leopard shortly after its capture by

Messrs. G. E. Bell and Son, of Pakhoi.

These animals when first deprived of

their freedom become very fierce and

in their repeated efforts to break

down the iron bars of the cage they

do themselves much injury. The above animal, in struggling to get free

broke off several of his claws and

snapped off two of his tusks. Ac-

cording to Chinese stories, he had a

tad record. A short time before re

was trapped be carried off a farmer's

young daughter whilst she was draw-

ing water from a lonely well.
