U. S. COAL STRIKE

The miners officials state that Pres. Wilson's proposal of Dec 7 included a fourteen per cent advance in wages, and the appointment, upon resumption of work, of a Commission to study wages, profits, and conditions connected with the industry. It is believed certain the strike will be settled this week.

Washington, Dec. 7.

The Attorney General announces that a compromise for the termination of the coal strike has been reached by representa- tives of the Government and miners. It will be submitted to the miners Executive Committee on Tuesday.

The compromise was suggested by Pres. Wilson who was represented at the conference by Secretary Tumulty. The miners representative will urge the mea to accept. "
