THE ONE TE NG MISSING. One who belongs, it is to be feared, to the fraternity of pro- fiteers was exhibiting with pride his new motor-car, one of the super-sort, costing something more than three thousand guineas, to his friend, who is a bit of a wag. After examining the treasure for some time in silence, and testing the luxurious swivel-seats, the cigar-lighters, the mirrors, and the thousand- and-odd silver fittings, "It is all very nice," remarks the wag," but where is the bath-room?"
RED TAPE AND BLUE PAPER. Que of the minor blessings of i the war is that it has banished) red tape from Government officer. Everything nowadays is tied up with white tape. The fact is that red tape is unobtainable in any quantities, the reason being the war necessity of saving dyes. Let us remember, for our satis faction, in our loathing of red tape, that the stuff to make it red was made in Germany. Before the war, too, all minutes" Government offices werte written on blue paper, and the official bioa envelope was proverbial. These also have dis- appeared, the reason again being German dyes. Let us hope that we shall never see either red tape or blue paper in Government offices again.
