A NEW CALCUTTA COMPANY. A new company with a capital of Rs. 50 lakhs in shares of Rs. 10 17 each is being floated at Calcutta under the title of The Indian Glace Kids, Limited. The object of the enterprise is to start a large glace kid tannery, and the pro- strong spectus states that a inducement for the flotation lies in the fact that the Government of India have decided to levy a duty of 15 per cent, on the export of raw hides and skins to countries outside the British Empire, the "effect of which will be to place this company in a very favourable position, enabling it to hold its own even in the protected markets 34 gallons of the world."
