5th May 1862, respecting the grant of Pensions to Civil Servants in that Colony,
and to the following passage in the letter from the Treasury of 12th September 1862.
"My Lords will not object to the mode which the Governor proposes to deal with the offices of the Attorney General, Colonial Surgeon, and Surveyor General, the holders of which are severally allowed private practice in addition to their salaries from the Public, viz: to admit their claim to Pensions calculated on their actual salaries from the public and without any special addition on account of the professional character of their duties, the privilege of private practice being deemed a sufficient and liberal arrangement for them.
Dr. Murray's service being ... years and his salary £700 per annum, his pension if calculated in accordance with the above decision would be ... £198. 1. 8d.
