Supply may be required.

I have forwarded to Sir P. d'A. H. Graves on the 25th ult. a copy of the return prepared by the Accountant General & superintended in his office, giving the proportion of subsidiary coins together with the guess regarding the month.

The brisk demand for specie to proceed to Formosa and for the Colony amounts to a considerable sum. The specified coinage of 20 cents, 10 cents, and 5 cents is similar to that at present in circulation in Hongkong. Whoever furnishes the amount will be cheaper in the long run and more convenient.

If you can send a supply sufficient for a longer period, say six months, you will be doing a good service, and in that case the further supply will be regulated in due time.
