I am directed by the Secretary of State for India to
acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 21st ultimo
and to acquaint you in reply that
Telegraph Clerks in India are not exempted by law
from serving on Juries, and his
Lordship is not aware that there is
any understanding
that they
shall not be called upon
to serve.
