Office of Surveyor General of Prisons

44, Parliament Street S.W.

12th October 1872.

With reference to your letter of the 11th ultimo, requesting information as to the cost of closets for drying clothes, and asking for other particulars thereon, I beg to recommend they should be procured from Messrs Jeakes & Co. of Great Russell Street. – Messrs Haden of Trowbridge, are in first cost, expensive, but their closets take a longer time to dry the clothes; therefore, more of them are required, than of Messrs Jeakes, and they consume more fuel.
