China has taken grey and bleach- ing shirtings, and some fair lines of fancies., Business is also spoken of for Java. Messrs. James Hutton and Co., Ltd., wte in their weekly report The Manchester, cloth market. is in & very disappoint ing condition. In a general sense the demand may be described as lifeless. There is still the moderate business going on for Chine, but it is really only small -compared with what was formerly done. We hear reports of inquir ies from the Straits and Java, but, straming up the position generally, trade here has never been so bad as it is at present, d the outlook for the immediate. future is not encouraging.
