the annual" James Watt" dinner, which has for so long been a feature of the winter sessions of the Institution of Engineers and Shipbuilders in Scotland, is to be revived after a suspension due to the war. The announcement was made by Mr. Alexander Cieg- horn, the president, at the general meeting of members. It is yet too early to go into details, but arrangements are far enough advanced to state that the bigh standard associated with previous dinners will be maintain- ed, so far as distinction of guests and speech making are concerned. What may be the experience in other respects depends larely upon questions of control beyond the jurisdiction of the committee in charge.
