SHORTAGE OF MEAT..
Paris, January 5. The French Minister of Food Supplies has signed & degree 'cancelling many food restrictious imposed during the war, and orders have been issued for the fixing of maximum prices for condens- ed milk, oggs, tapioca, rice, dried peas and beans.
The new decree also alleviates the rules concerning the hours at which meals can be obtained in hotels and restaurants, These mensures are the first step in the return to the pre-war regime.
The growing shortage of mest in France will be severely felt in the coming spring. The butchers want a real-less day imposed immediately. The meatless days of last year were very suscessful. A supply of frozen meat is required.files.
POTASH SUPPLIES OF ALSACE.

HEROIC AIRMAN'S FUNERAL.
London, January 3. Captain Leefe Robinson V.C., (whose death was reported yesterday) was buried at Harrowwaald this afternoon. Aeroplanes escorted the cortege to the cemetery. The coffin, borne on an aeroplane trailer was preceded by the Air Force band and followed by a squadron of members of the Air Force. The beszers included Major Sowrey who brought down the second Zeppelin in England. An aeroplane dropped a wreath before the house where the body was lying before the departure of the cortage.

The Allied Governments have advised President Wilson that they desire the United States Government should take the lead in the organisation and administration" of relief, in Great Britain, France and Italy. A Council has been appointed with two representatives from each Government. Mr. Hoover is appointed. Director General and M. Clementál, Minhter of Commerce, and M. Vilgrain, Under Secretary. for Food Supplies are the French representatives. The first meeting will be held as soon as all the delegates are named.
