The House of Hate' has many good points in its favor as a serial of financial value to the exhibitor. Looking at it, from the viewpoint of the story there exists, first of all, the proper foundation for a successful serial
"It is thrilling, to say the least, but, more than that, it carries a suspense that holds Ahe interest until the final scene. The un- explained climax also, is so presented as to excite the curiosity and thus bring the patrons back for the next instalment. The direction is good. Its evenness offers an ease in story-telling that simplifies matters considerably. The atmosphere, has been carefully maintained and the details and photography have been offered with care.
Setting aside the fact that it is a first- class story, exhibitors know that a Pearl White serial is a box-office attraction itself,, and this point is its chief talking point from the standpoint of the box-office. But, în addition to the drawing power of the star special attention should be paid to the story. This is strong, entertaining and thrilling.".
