“Shipbuilding -Increase.
The Admiralty announces that the tonnage of merchantmen completed in the United Kingdom' in September total 144,772 28 compared with 124,675 tons in August this year and 63,150 tons. in September last year. The tofal tonnage complated for the 12 months up to September 30 was 1,591,262 tons.
Shortage of Officers.
The Employment Bureau of the Mercantile Marine Service Association reported in Auzust that during the first half of the month very few inquiries have been made for masters and senior. officers, although there are a number" available. For juniors the inquiry has been moderate," those prezenting themselves being but very few seeking employment,
