similiar development is expected. Ship Repairing in South Wales. Probably the largest jab of the war in the South Wales ship- repairing trade has just bean completed at Cardiff. The vessel's repair was extremsly heavy, and his Majesty the King on his last visit to Cardiff was interested in the work. The vessel required. the renewal of ab exceptional number of plates, &c. the cut out of the side of the ship being atout 110ft. The job was completed in record time by the Channel Dry | Docks 'Co, and each tank was passed by Lloyd's surveyor, and |the work completed in a manner and time that delighted the owners. At the present time there are a good number of jobs in hand in the various yards, most of which are rather heavy. Business continues most brisk in all yards.
Bristol Channel Shipyard Work. It is stated that as scon as the permission of the Admiralty authorities is received it is proposed to lay down a shipbuild. yard at Newport on a site neat the Old Deck. The promoters will lay down six elips, and the. [ railway authorities have promised to lay sidings. Meanwhile

of the proposed yard at Cardiff- which has apparently fallen through—thisG details are shrouded in mystery.
