His Excellency Governor Sir Arthur Kennedy instructs me to request the Government of India to give aid in transmitting to the Pensioners the amounts to which they have become entitled.

9. Many of them have left the Colony with the understanding that their pensions will be forwarded to India.

11. I enclose descriptive lists of the Pensioners, which have been prepared with great difficulty (disguising all the trouble and inconvenience) of paying these pensions to men living in India in secluded villages has not been overlooked by this Government, and an endeavor has been made to induce all the Pensioners to commute their pension at a highly favorable rate. Many accepted the offer made to them, but seventeen men preferred to abide by their original agreements, details of which it is supposed will be necessary.

His Excellency Sir Arthur Kennedy is of the opinion that the pensions should be paid every half-year, and on learning that His Excellency the Vice Roy has no objection to the proposal, the requisite amount will be regularly forwarded to India.
