I think that the power conferred on the Governor of this Colony by Ordinance 14 of 1862 of extending here the privileges conferred by patents granted in England is all that is required.

In a place

so small

in many ways

so peculiarly situated, the power of conferring patents for original inventions would be completely useless, and it would be impossible to obtain the necessary
