German Banks' Debt of £970,454- The indebtedness of the German banks to the Bank of England on May 31 last was £970,454, asid the Chancellor of the Exchequer recently. There was, he added, no foundation for the suggestion that the German banks in this country were ostry- ing on business. The question of opening after the war was anothar matter.
