The Press Barean states that the withdrawal of 75,000 miners from British colheres involves" 22,800,000 tons re- duced coal output. It is also estimated that an extra 12,500,000 tons will be required for war purposes for France, Italy, neutrals and coating stations. The shortage of British consumption thus amounts to 35,000,000 tons per sínum. A household rationing scheme will save: 8,000,000 tons, leaving $7,000,000 to be provided by the, improved output and economies in industrial and transport consump tion. This is a most serious outlook and therefore it is imperative that there should be every possible economy.
