River.

Referring to Special Notice to Mariners No. 505, notice is given that the following Alterations have been made in thỏ buoyage of the Tsungming Crossing, North Channel Entrance to the Yangtza. Rivar.The Crossing Buoy has been moved and is now moored in 23 feet of water, ita charso-"" teristice remaining unchanged. From the Buoy, Dumb Bescon bears N. 594 E, Distant 288 miles. The East Entrance Budy. has been moved and its navigat- ing colour changed from rad and black horizontal stripes to red. It is now, moored in 51 feet of -water on the northem side of the North Channel Entrance to the Yangtze River in the northern approach to the Teungming Crossing. From the Buoy, Dumb Beacon bears N. 59° 10 W., distant 2.61 miles. The Middle Island Buoy has been moved and is now moored in 33 feet of water, ita characteristics remaining un- changed. From the Buoy, Linchiso Bescon, bears N. 24° E., distant 1.21 miles: All bearings given are magnetio, and depths are those of low water of spring tides.

Messrs Wheelock add in their Freight Market Report, dated May 9, state:-As far as the freight market to the United Kingdom in concerned British tonnage is still up with Govern- ment contract cargo but we under stand that the Government is not buying, quite so much flour at present and the consequence is. that there may be some space for general cargo within the next month or so. Vis Pacific:- Ratas continue strong soross the Pacific The rates from Hongkong to Pacific Coast Ports have also gone up to G.$60.00 per ton for general cargo in sympathy, with Shanghai.
