show a decrease, and economy is needed.
The expenditure of 1871, again, shows a large increase of £3,079 over that of 1870. This is almost exactly the amount of excess of expenditure on Police, Police Clothing, Wounds & Accidents, & Jailories.
But one decrease in expenditure is a considerable item (£8,315) for lands purchased in 1870, against £28,284 in 1871. Otherwise the result of the year would show far more increase on expenditure.
R.S.2.
The expansion of this special fund was not accounted for.
