1-
The proposed offer of 150,000 tons deadweight of Japanese shipping to the Allies, it is fan-ed, will cause some trouble in char ter transactions already õõ ̈• cinded. As already noted, the Uchida Kisen Kaisha has decided to offer the Aikoku-maru.:: But for the proposal to offer Japanese tonnage to the Allies, this steamer was to be shortly delivered to the Mitsubishi firm" according to a contract made some time ago, by which the [Aikoku-maru was Chartered to thit concern for one year at 126 for delivery in April. The Mie. subishi firm is in a position where it cannot afford to cancel the contract without obtaining a BUD {alitate steamer, and the partie
concerned are now in negotiation. It is expected, however, that the trouble will: Be settled by winding up the con- tract on certain conditions.

The Minister sisured the deputation that the British Government, and inde British public, would its seamen to be forg especially as they had proved their
