Family's Tragic. Losses, Private W. Uahappy Coincidences. There are striking poincidencea in connection with the deaths in action in France of two Hinckley soldiers, Privates Geo, Mason and W. A. Barat, of the Northum- berland Fusiliers. Friends and neighbours in civil life, they joined up together on March 18, 1916, were trained together, and have since been fighting side by side. Killed in Bayonet Bout. A friendly bayonet bout between two soldiers at Cross- baven, Co. Cork, on Christmas night had a fatal result. The men engaged were Private A. W. Turberfield, of the Shropshire Light Infantry, and Private Efferman. The vosbbard of Efferman's bayonet fell off just as he was about to parry, and the paint entered Tarberfield's heart and langs.
