Shanghai Maa Killed. News has been received of the death of M. Bacal Jarno, youngest son of M and Mme, Jarno, which took place on March 2, at Mar- sailles, following a severe illness. Mr. Ariyoshi, wife of the Governor of Kanagawe Ken,"and two other Japanese ladies, re- presenting the Yokohama branch. of the Ladies Patriotic League of Japan, hare prezented 500 pieces of cloth and 1,200 yards of fanel to the American ladies of Yokohama engaged in Red Cross work.

Suspected Case of Black Plague. It is reported from Oaks that a female operative named Yaman- chi Yone of the Oriental Paper Mill in Toyosaki Oho, Nishinori Gan, Oaska Fo, died of fever recently. The name of the disease ie not stated. Judging from the fact that the body remained in s feverish state for hours after ber death, it is feared that the cause of death was black plague. The body is being examined by the medical authorities of Osaka Fo.

A Golf Course for Hakone. Mr. Yamaguchi Seiz› of Hakone hes sent an application to the Governor of Kanagawa Pra- fectore, making the authorities for permission to construct golf linke at Fengok bars, Hakone. An area of 4,000 taubo has been mapped out. The application was
