Schedule of Despatches from the Right Honorable The Secretary of State for the Colonies received by the Governor of Hong Kong, during the month of September 1872.

Ford Kimberley recognizes the difficulties in which the consular Authorities at Shanghai are placed as regards this case, and he will therefore only point out that the course adopted by them is of questionable legality, and likely to produce much inconvenience. Lord Granville will no doubt concur with him in thinking that the Colony should be recouped the expenditure they have incurred in consequence of the course adopted with reference to Reddie, and in that event Lord Kimberley requests that the enclosures be sent.

A schedule of papers accompanied by A. Kennedy's despatch is annexed, and copies of any of them which Lord Granville may desire to see will be forwarded. It is however believed that most, if not all of them, are already in the possession of the Foreign Office.

In that the amount incurred has been paid by the Hong Kong Government for the Foreign Office.
