Russia.

Russian churches in Japan_no longer receive money from Rusais, as the result of the recent decree issued by the Bolshevik | Government regarding the separa- tion of religion from the state. The board of trustees of the church in -Japan have met in conference several times and decided that the missions in Japan are to be independent from the Russian Church.

Australian Jam, Advices have been received that the Minister of Trade and Customs for Australia has com pleted a contract for the sale of 50,000,000 pounds of sarplas Australien jam to the Imperial Gorerament. Of this amount, 12,000 000 pounds will beshipped to Great Britain and 38,000,000 pounds to the United States. Australia's sarplus of the coming season's fruita involves approxi- mately five and a half million dollars. The transaction is being financed by the British Govern.

Teachers and the Labour Party.

As the meeting of the Council! of the Asacciation of Masters in Secondary Schools, held recently at the London Day Training College, a motion was considered recommending the affiliation of the association to the Laboar Party, subject to a referendum of secondary teachers throughout the country.
