To all whom it may concern:

Whereas there is no Asylum at this fort in which the said James Reidy can be safely kept and treated; and, Whereas it is expedient that he should be sent to some Asylum within a British Colony where he can be attended to and safely kept until he is fit to be discharged or until he can be sent to the Lunatic Asylum of the County in England where his settlement may be.

This is therefore to authorize you, the said Christopher Young, to receive the said James Reidy and safely convey him to Hong Kong, and there deliver him into the custody of the Chief Officer of some Hospital fitted for and capable of receiving Lunatics, and for so doing this shall be your Warrant.

Given under my hand and the Seal of this Court, this 16th day of July 1873.

(L.S.). (Signed) Samuel Turner, Chief Judge.

True Copy. (Signed) Auch Mutaster, Offy Consul.
