The president of the Katsuta announced that he has decided Steamship Company of Kobe bas to organise his firm into a joint Y.10,000,00. His fim has ships stock concern, with a capital of of approximately 46, 00 tons and also more than 55,000 tons under construction for the trans-Pacific service.
Japanese Shipping Beak. The proposed establishment of a shipping tank in Japan, which was deferred at the last session of the Imperial Diet, will be presented again to the forthcom- wing session. It is reported that the capital of the bank, which was originally put at Y.30,000,000 will be increased. ·

The reported intention of the Government to renew the steam- ship subsidy contract for another two years from January 1 is roundly attacked by the " Asahi and "Jiji:" Neither of the papers can see why the Nippon Yusen Kaisha, the Osaka Shosen Kaisha and the Toyo Kisen Kaisha, gaining enormously from the war, should be rubsidised again.
