West Indian Coaling Stations. The fact that the West Indian inlands are on the direct route for reesele ning the Farama Canal gives them a special importance sa coaling stations, commercially sd well so strategically. Though the United States provides such stations of the canal itself, there is room for scmpetition—a fact which the U.SA. is recognising. by improving the stations in Cabs, and in the recently Required St. Thomas. To get a fair share of this trade, the coal- ing stations in the British West Indian will need, however, to make considerable improvement in their facilities for loading andTM despatch.
