Baris Nearly a Journalist.
Two attempts were made to induce Barns to enter London journalism, said Mr. William Will, president of the London Barbe Clab, at the Hallowe'en celebra- tion on Oct. 31. The first, be eaid, was made by Peter Staart, one of the proprietors of the Morning Post, who started the Star, and asked the poet to assist him on his newspaper. Bards declined, hat contributed '00- casionally to his friend's newe paper. The second effort to bring $100.00 Barns to Loudon was made by James Perry, proprietor of the Morning Chronicle, who offered him £5 a week to assist him (Perry) on the Chronicle. This effer, also, Bazne declined, plead- ing that his duties as an Excise fer would prevent him. A farther suggestion that he should produce a three set comio opera on the London stage came to naught.
