latest report The
of the Japanese Mining Bureau publish-In. ed recently for October shows a striking increase in iron and silver outputs in Japan. The cutput of iron during October wan 6.401 tons, which figure was an increase of 21.2 per cent, over the. & sa. $98 esme time of last year. Silver, b. & sa. $125 was produced to the extent of 5,370,796 momme. This figure is 8. an increase cf 11.5 per cent. over. the same time of last year. This gain in silver has been brought; about by the recent boom in b silver and it is feared that the present turn in the bar silver, b market may arrest the increase. b. The output of gold in Japan decreased again during October,
b. the total being only 153,688, momme, which figure is an appreciable decrease of 14 per cent from the same time lastb. Fear. This is said to be due to the immobility of gold prices and h the huge increase in producing cost. Copper was produced to.. the amount of 13,525,677 kin b during the month, the increase į being only 9.3 per cent.
Coal: b. increased only 7.5 per cent. in, b. spite of the pressing demand for more supply The total output b. was only 1,918,478 tons. In the b opinion of some mining operators this slow increase in the output b.. of coal is attributable to the lack of hands and machinery. The English Board of Control have now. amanged the details of the plan for regulating the export of worsted and woollen yarns. In the first place, the export yarn rationing committee is to be informed by the joint rationing committee of the total quantities of yarn permitted for each of the Allies, the British colonies, and other countries. The export yarn rationing committes will submit their recommendations from time to time to the joint rationing committee, who may-authorise the issue of rationing certificates to spinners and export merchants, The secretary of the joint rationing committee will open an account for each country, showing the bulk ration allowed b. to it for a certain period.
